Fullerton, Calif. - Brian Wilson's pinch-hit two -run homer in the seventh, broke a 2-2 tie as No. 12 Cal State Fullerton held on to win, 6-4, over visiting Cal Poly in a nationally-televised Big West Conference match-up at Goodwin Field Friday night.

The win upped Jeff Kaplan's record to 9-1 on the year as he tossed 8.2 innings before handing the ball to Adam Jorgenson for the final out and his seventh save of the year. Kaplan wins his sixth straight decision and eighth game without a loss.Fullerton improved to 31-16 overall and 14-5 in league play. Cal Poly fell to 22-25, 6-10.

Brian Grening suffered the loss and fell to 3-4 on the year as he gave up three Titan runs in the seventh in relief of starter Eric Massingham. Grening was near perfect for three innings, giving up just one single to Josh Fellhauer over the first 10 batters he faced.

With two out and one on, the Titans went to their bench in Wilson, who deposited Grening's 2-1 pitch over the right-center field wall for his second home run of the year and driving home Joel Weeks with the game-winner. Josh Fellhauer promptly followed suit with his fifth round-tripper of the year giving the Titans a 5-2 lead. The Titans tacked on an unearned run in the ninth courtesy of a throwing error by catcher Justin Hensley on a strikeout in the dirt.

After a lead-off single by J.J. Thompson and a two of his six strikeouts on the night, Kaplan surrendered an eighth inning two-run home run to Pat Pezet, ending his night on the mound and foiling his chance at his second straight complete game victory.

Logan Schafer led off the game with a home run for the Mustangs giving them a brief 1-0 lead, but Fullerton bounced back in the second plating two runs courtesy of a Erik Komatsu run-scoring triple and an RBI groundout by Jared Clark.

Cal Poly tied the game at 2-2 with an unearned run off Kaplan in the sixth. Kyle Smith picked up the RBI, Driving home Adam Melker on the slow chopper through the left side.

Cal Poly out-hit the Titans 9-6 on the night led by Pezet who was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Fellhauer paced the home team with a pair of hits and an RBI.

The Titans and Mustangs will meet Saturday night with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Daniel Renken will be on the Mound for Fullerton while Jared Eskew will toe the rubber for Cal Poly. Saturday night's first pitch ceremony will feature former Titan coaches, George Horton and Rick Vanderhook as they are officially entered into the Titans' Ring of Honor.
