Cal State Fullerton places a high priority on the academic success of its student-athletes. The institution supports this priority through the provision of resources such as Athletics Academic Services.

The mission of Athletics Academic Services is to provide effective academic and life skills resources to assist student-athletes in reaching their academic goals.

Athletics Academic Services works closely with faculty, coaches and other student support offices to ensure that all Titan student-athletes have the opportunity to adjust to university life, succeed in the classroom, and make sound educational and career choices. Such support programs include:

ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT
General education advisement is available by appointment or on a walk-in basis in the Athletics Academic Advisement Office- LH 215. Student-athletes are advised to select the appropriate courses that will allow them to maintain athletic eligibility while successfully completing an academic program. Students with declared majors are referred to faculty advisors in their major departments. The advisement process encourages student-athletes to take ownership of their academic progress and make appropriate decisions regarding their goals.

PRIORITY REGISTRATION
Priority registration helps ensure that student-athletes develop a class schedule that allows them to carry a full class load, make progress toward graduation and compete in their sport.

TUTORING
Student-athletes have access to a variety of tutoring services which include the following:

University Learning Center (MH 33, x2738): Tutoring and study groups for all courses. Drop in and appointments.
Writing Center (MH45, x3650): Assistance with editing writing assignments. By appointment.
Math Lab & Tutoring Center (MH 187, x3631): Mathematics tutoring on a drop-in basis.
Opportunity Center for Student Success (MH 488 x4158): Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics tutoring.
College of Business and Economics (MH 46 x2704): Accounting, Business Writing, Statistics, Programming and Finance tutoring.

ATHLETICS STUDY HALL
The Athletics Study Hall provides a structured learning environment with computers and study tables for student-athletes to work independently on their homework assignments. Lab Monitors are on hand to maintain a quality learning environment. Hours: Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Location: LH 217

ACADEMIC PROGRESS REPORTS
Athletics Academic Services requests mid-semester grade-checks for every student-athlete at least once per semester. Grade-check forms are sent to individual professors and completed forms are reviewed by program staff to determine if a student-athlete is making satisfactory academic progress. If a student's progress is determined to be unsatisfactory, Athletics Academic Services brings together coaches, faculty, and the student-athlete to address concerns and make any necessary referrals and/or plans for improvement.

TITAN ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRAM
This program takes a proactive approach in motivating and assisting student-athletes to make a successful transition to college life, achieve and maintain a satisfactory level of academic performance, and make timely progress toward graduation. Student-athletes meet weekly with an Academic Mentor who will assist them in developing and working toward their academic goals.

TRAVEL LAPTOP PROGRAM
The program provides laptops for teams who are traveling to competitions. Coaches can check out a laptop for the trip and return it upon their arrival to campus.

NCAA CHAMPS LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
This program is designed to address the total development of the student-athlete and consists of five components:

Academic excellence
Athletic excellence
Career development
Personal development
Service

The program assists student-athletes in transitioning from high school to college and from college to the career. Participants are also educated about the importance of making meaningful contributions to their communities. All first-time freshman student-athletes are required to take University 100, a one unit course designed to help them develop their personal, academic, and professional skills.

AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS
Titan Athletics and the NCAA honor student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. Annual awards include Big West Conference Scholar-Athletes, Titan Scholar-Athletes, and the Honor Roll.
