DR. MILTON A. GORDON
President

Dr. Milton A. Gordon was selected the fourth president of Cal State Fullerton by The California State University Board of Trustees and assumed his duties on Aug. 9, 1990.

His university leadership includes serving as vice president for academic affairs at Sonoma State University for four years, as dean of the College of the Arts and Sciences for Chicago State University for more than eight years and as director of the Afro-American Studies Program at Loyola University of Chicago for six years.

President Gordon also taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology and in the Chicago public schools and served as mathematician at the University of Chicago's Laboratories of Applied Sciences.

He is the vice chairman of the NCAA Presidents Commission and has been appointed to the committee to name a successor to outgoing NCAA President Cedric Dempsey. He also is the California state representative to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and serves on the governing boards of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, California Coalition for Mathematics, Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Orange County Community Foundation, United Way of Orange County, YMCA of Orange County and Fullerton Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is on the advisory boards of St. Jude Medical Center and The California State University's Institute for Teaching and Learning.

The President has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology, an M.A. in mathematics from the University of Detroit and a B.A. in mathematics and secondary education from Xavier University of Louisiana.

DR. ROBERT L. PALMER
Vice President for Student Affairs

Dr. Robert L. Palmer joined the Administrative Team at California State University, Fullerton in 1997. As the university's chief student affairs officer, he provides leadership for a complex set of student services and student development units. These units include the Dean of Students/Student Life, Academic Support Services, University Learning Center, Career Center, Disabled Student Services, Financial Aid, Housing and Residence Life, International Education and Exchange, Women's Center and Adult Re-entry, the Student Health and Counseling Center, School-Based Assistant Deans, and Federal TRIO Programs. He is also responsible for Intercollegiate Athletics.

Dr. Palmer came to his current position from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. During his 20-year tenure at SUNY he held various administrative positions including Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Provost, and Vice President for Student Affairs.

Dr. Palmer earned a bachelor's degree in Education and Masters of Science degree in College Personnel Administration from Indiana University. He also holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

BRIAN QUINN
Athletics Director

Brian Quinn assumed the post of director of athletics at Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 14, 2002.

In June of 2007, he was named the Astroturf Division I, West Region, Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The award is based upon commitment and positive contributions to campuses and their surrounding communities.

Quinn has overseen the department's successful efforts to recover from a state fiscal crisis, improve the overall student-athlete academic performance and remodel Titan Gym.

Cal State Fulleron student-athletes currently mirror the student body in graduation rate and CSF was acknowledged for its "Outstanding Degree Completion Program" for 2005-06 by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. The department also recently received a 10-year re-certification from the NCAA and surpassed its goals for complying with Title IX participation.

Over the course of the last five years, the Titans have outperformed the rest of the Big West Conference in the NACDA Cup Standings, topped by four appearances by the baseball team at the College World Series. The Titans won their fourth national title in 2004 and placed third in both 2003 and 2006 and seventh in 2007. The women's soccer team also made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the "Sweet 16" in 2005 and the second round in 2006, while the softball team in 2007 became the first Big West squad to reach the Super Regional round.

Quinn was the athletic director at Loyola Marymount University from 1985 through 1998. He then dedicated his time towards completing the Burns Recreation Center and Aquatics Center at LMU. He also directed the athletic fundraising efforts as executive director of athletic development. An athletic scholarship has been endowed in his name at LMU.

During his years as director of athletics at LMU the Lions won nine West Coast Conference titles and advanced to the NCAA men's basketball tournament three times and once to the NIT. The basketball team advanced to the Final Eight and led the nation in scoring. The baseball team advanced to the College World Series where it defeated the No. 1seed, LSU. Women's volleyball won numerous conference championships as well and the women's crew team won the national championship.

Quinn graduated from Loyola (1963) with a degree in business administration and received his masters degree from Long Beach State. He was a long-time coach and athletic administrator at the high school level in the Irvine Unified School District and taught volleyball classes for Irvine Valley College for six years.

He was the chair of the athletic directors for many years in the West Coast Conference and was the chair of the NCAA men's volleyball committee, as well as serving on the board of directors for USA volleyball. He is in the second year of a four-year term on the NCAA Division I baseball committee and chairs several Big West Conference committees.

Quinn was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame both at his high school (Serra HS) and university (LMU). He was the captain of the basketball team and MVP and three-year starter on the baseball team. The basketball team was the WCC champion and defeated USC in the NCAA tournament. He also was a member of the Balboa Bay Club national champion volleyball team. He continues to be an avid beach volleyball player.

Quinn and his wife of 43 years, Collette, live in Manhattan Beach. They have four adult children: Andrew, a teacher in Atlanta; Janet, who lives in Rye, NY; Suzanne, a teacher in Inglewood; and Maureen, who recently married. The Quinn's have 10 grandchildren -- Brendan, Ryan, Owen Kiernan, Dylan, Colin Brian, Mary Frances, Erin, Maggie, Gabriel and Barrett. Quinn is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

DR. ALLISON RICH
Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator

Dr. Allison Rich began her duties as Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 3, 2005.

Dr. Rich most recently was the associate director of athletics for internal affairs at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Dr. Rich had been at Pacific since April of 1998. She previously was a membership services representative for the NCAA where she drafted legislation and other NCAA publications, worked with committees such as satisfactory progress and financial aid, and spoke to various groups around the country including various sport conferences and national associations. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1991. Dr. Rich earned her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1995 and her doctorate in educational administration from Pacific in 2002.

DR. STEPHAN WALK
Faculty Athletics Representative

Dr. Stephan Walk was appointed Faculty Athletics Representative in 2004, succeeding Dr. Lee Gilbert, who served in the role for 12 years. Dr. Walk joined the faculty at Cal State Fullerton in 1994 after graduating from Michigan State with a dual doctoral degree in Kinesiology and Sociology. Effective August of 2007, he will the chair of the kinesiology department.

Dr. Walk is a sport sociologist whose research focuses on risk-taking, pain, and injury among athletes. He is the author of three publications in the past year, including two contributions to the Berkshire Encyclopedia of World Sport.

In 2004, he was elected President of the North America Society for the Sociology of Sport. He has also served as Chair of the University Curriculum Committee, the Athletics Advisory Council, and a number of athletics search committees.

Dr. Walk's responsibilities are to function as the representative of Cal State Fullerton and its faculty in its relationship with the NCAA and the Big West Conference, with particular attention to academic integrity, governance and rules compliance, and student-athlete welfare.

STEVE DiTOLLA
Associate Athletics Director

Steve DiTolla is in the sixth year of his second tenure in the Titans' athletic department. Overall, he has been a Titan for about 13 years.

The 1979 graduate of the University of Arizona and former Wildcats baseball player began his professional career as assistant ticket manager with the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. He then spent five years as athletics accountant and director of promotions and marketing at the University of Colorado.

DiTolla first served the CSF campus from 1985 to 1992 as associate athletics director/business affairs. He also had a short term as interim athletics director. He left intercollegiate athletics to become vice president of Jammin sports apparel in Anaheim for eight years.

The Denver native and his wife, Gail, live in Placentia. He has two sons - Justin and Brandon.

MEL FRANKS
Associate Athletics Director/Media Relations

Mel Franks has completed more than a quarter of a century in the Titans' athletic department directing the media relations effort. He is second in seniority among California Div. I sports information directors (San Jose State's Lawrence Fan preceded him by five weeks).

The 1970 graduate of Arizona State began his professional career as a sportswriter for the defunct Daily News Tribune in Fullerton. He then spent six years in the public relations department of the California Angels and served as the official scorer in Anaheim for the 1980 season and has been the backup scorer the past two seasons.

The Chicago native and his wife, Nancy, live in Norco. They have two adult children - Jason and Traci - and a young grandson, Owen. Springer spaniels "Woody" and "Sam" are the resident "children."

ROBERT SCIALDONE
Assistant Athletics Director/Business Affairs

Rob Scialdone is in his sixth year as the chief financial officer for Titan athletics. He is in charge of accounting for all of the income and expenses as they are processed through Associated Students, the California State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation, and the State of California.

Scialdone attended Claremont McKenna College until 1995 and graduated in 1996 with a B.A. in Economics from Cal State Fullerton. Scialdone returned to Claremont and received a master's degree in finance in 2000 from Claremont Graduate University. Prior to coming to Fullerton he worked as a corporate strategy and financial advisor to start-up companies and as a senior financial analyst for a mortgage REIT.

He and his wife, Krista, and young children, Sawyer and Tatum, live in Brea.

JULIE BOWSE
Assistant Athletics Director/Compliance

Julie Bowse is in her second year as full-time compliance officer for the Titans after stepping away from a seven-year stint as head women's gymnastics coach and 15 years with the gymnastics program.

As Julie Knight, she competed for the inaugural Titan gymnastics team in 1976 and won three All-American awards on vault, floor exercise and all-around.

Her coaching career began at SCATS in Huntington Beach and continued with a tour at the Clovis Academy of Gymnastics and Dance in her native Central California. She returned to her college roots in 1994 as an assistant to Coach Lynn Rogers, eventually serving as associate head coach in 1999 when she was selected Big West Conference coach of the year.

Knight has chaired three national organizations and served on the committee for the 2003 World Championships held in Anaheim. She has brevet status as an international gymnastics judge. She and her husband, Scott, live in Fullerton.

DR. MEREDITH BASIL
Director of Athletic Academic Services

Dr. Meredith Basil was appointed director of athletics academic services at Cal State Fullerton on Apr. 9, 2007. She previously served as academic support program coordinator, head diving coach and academic support counselor for student-athletes at American University in Washington, DC. During her five-year tenure at American she created a variety of tools for tracking the academic progress of student-athletes. Her responsibilities also included budget, staff supervision and evaluation of initial and continuing eligibility of student-athletes.

Basil received her bachelors and masters degree in psychology from American. She has completed her doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in behavior, cognition and neuroscience.

PAMELA JONES-TINTLE
Director of Development for Athletics

Pamela Jones-Tintle is in her fourth year as the director of development for athletics. She is in charge of fundraising and volunteer programs for all 17 intercollegiate sports.

Jones-Tintle obtained her bachelors degree in political science from Loyola Marymount in 1992 and earned a masters in education from the University of Redlands in 1997. She also has certificates in fundraising and non-profit management from UC Irvine.

Jones-Tintle has been working in higher education fundraising for the past 12 years including her alma mater and Redlands. Her most recent position was at Santa Clara, where she served as the director of annual and special gifts.

Pamela and her husband, Jeff, live in Pomona.
